Lifestyle changes that can improve COPD outcomes
Staying active with COPD: how exercise helps you feel better.
If you have COPD, exercise can sometimes be difficult. You may be out of breath more quickly, and it seems tempting to slow down. Yet it's very important to stay active every day. Regular exercise improves your condition and reduces symptoms of breathlessness.
Exercise doesn't have to be difficult.
1 Everyday activity matters
You don't have to practice an intense sport to be active. Walking, cycling or other forms of exercise that you enjoy are perfect. Anything that gets your body moving is helpful! Try to be active for at least 30 minutes a day. Don't hesitate to spread this time out throughout the day.
2 What to do if you feel short of breath?
It's normal to feel a little out of breath when you're on the move. This is not dangerous for your lungs. Does your breathlessness become too intense? Then take a break to catch your breath and continue your activity calmly.
Listen to your body: small gestures can make a big difference.
